This year the Granby Girls Varsity basketball team surprised everyone by winning the first Western Mass championship in 19 years. The team started off their season with winning their first 7 games with their leading scorer being Kalli White. Once in the middle of the season they slowed down losing 3 games. After that they got that last push to win the rest of the in season games.
Once the Girls team reached the Western Mass tournament they knew this was their year. Blowing out every team they played they finally got to the final. All the hard work they put in waiting to come out, the game started off not too good for the team, 2nd half was where Granby’s Brenna Moreno pulled away showing what kind of player she truly was, with 30 points to end the game. Senior KC ”cash” Curran was a big contributing factor with the win also, she was doing great defensively putting lots of pressure on the offensive and was handling the ball with great expertise. This was a great season for Granby’s Girls team, we are all hoping for the same great success next year.
