Christmas is celebrated all over the world in many different ways. With different families comes different traditions. Some popular traditions are the classic Christmas tree and a proper Christmas night dinner. But I’m here to tell you about the not so classic Christmas traditions.
Roller skating to church in caracas bet you have never heard of that one but for many it is the normal on Christmas. Some more Christmas traditions include eating KFC in Japan, In Austria a demonic figure named Krampus appears and in Germany hiding a pickle in the Christmas tree. Or maybe you would enjoy the radish festival in Mexico with the Oaxaca radish festival beginning over 100 years ago when there was a prolific radish crop. Today people travel from throughout Mexico and the state of Oaxaca to see the giant radishes carved with depictions of Oaxacan life. Maybe if none of these is your style then you could go Deep Fried Caterpillars. Forget turkey in South Africa, many people enjoy the deep-fried caterpillars of the Emperor Moth on Christmas Day!
Maybe you would like to visit Norway on Christmas Eve because it is steeped in superstition. One of the quirkiest customs is hiding all the household brooms, as it’s believed that witches and evil spirits might steal them to fly around.
