During basketball tryouts, there were two coaches watching us, Coach Afflito and Coach Prattico and each of them focused on different things like shooting, defense, and teamwork. We started with basic warm ups and stretches and then moved into drills such as the 3-man weave, where three lines work together while the middle person starts with the ball, passes, and then runs behind. We did this up and down the court while the coaches watched our passing, communication, and how fast we could get down the floor without messing up. For conditioning, we had to do the figure 8 into the hourglass drill, which felt endless because we were constantly sprinting from spot to spot. We also ran 30-10s, meaning 10 full laps or thirty up-and-downs and half way through we had to put both hands up above our shoulders , and that showed who was really in shape. By the end of tryouts, around 8–10 people got cut because the coaches wanted players who hustled, stayed locked in, and didn’t give up when things got tough. Overall, the whole process showed how serious they were about building a strong, competitive team this year.
