Q1: How long have you been interested in the arts?
KRY: “Ever since I was a kid, I loved art. Since I could remember having art classes when I was in elementary school – that, and Gym.”
Q2: Have you always wanted to teach Middle School art? Was there something that prompted you to do it this year?
KRY: “No, the plan wasn’t. Last year, Mr Cipoletta and Mrs Jordan brought it up. I didn’t think it was an option. It was a nice surprise – I was excited but nervous.”
Q3: Do you enjoy teaching middle schoolers? Would you have preferred to teach strictly math”
KRY: “Most Years… (On teaching MS);It’s nice to break it up between Art and Math. As much as I love math, and it would be my first choice, it’s nice to have a break in between.“
Q4: Do the classes you teach work well with the room? Is it weird teaching both Math and Art in the same classroom?
KRY: “Very weird. We had to rebuild the class to make it fit – I believe we swapped 8 of my desks for three tables. The hardest part is having a math class right after art. With Transitioning, I’m wiping tables and sweeping even as the kids are starting to take notes.”
