The team saw two course records fall. Nathan Hutchinson broke his course record by 29 seconds, crossing the line in 18:13. On the girl’s side, Caprial DiBartolomeo from Hopkins broke the girl’s course record with a time of 23:02. With such breakthrough performances mere days before, it can be difficult to recover fully and be ready to race hard again. But, many of the Rams did just that. Addy Hill placed 2nd overall, just 2 seconds off of her Granby team course record in 23:49. Grace Cooney also lowered her home course PR to 24:22, nearly a full minute faster. Next in for the girl’s team was Quinlin Cook, in a season best 25:30, followed by Adelynn Zimmer who lowered her course PR to 27:40. Rowan Cook was our 5th runner, scoring her first Varsity points and posting a three minute PR for the course in 30:30. Next across the line was Charlotte Shewmaker in 30:45, followed by Adaline Woods in 31:29, both running their first ever 5k. Audrey Dowen (35:55) and Stella Siudak (38:41) who also completed the 5k home course for the first time this season. Aurora Lee (32:46), Audree Flowers (35:49) and Michaela Slater (38:26) had strong performances. Nate Benson was the second Granby runner across the finish line for the boys in 20:09, which is his new PR for the course. Trevor Sullivan was next in 20:30. Colby Carleton was our fourth runner, lowering his course PR to 21:12. In his return to competition, Pax Stark was the 5th scoring runner for the team in 27:13. Avery Gagnon was 6th in 38:58. The boys picked up wins across the board against all 5 teams, while the girls dropped one to Gateway but earned victories over Hopkins, Veritas and PVCA. Mahar did not have any girls competing.
The team would like to thank the Benson family, especially Carol Benson, for being the team parent Booster representative who organized the balloons, cake and being the bearers of the Booster gifts for the Seniors and their parents. They have been a part of the Granby Cross Country family for many years, not only as Nate’s biggest supporters, but also with their son Jake, who graduated in 2022. The team is grateful for everything they have done and continue to do. It truly takes a village to host a meet on the Granby course!
