Granby fields its biggest cross country team in years, and it has been proving fruitful. As of the second week of meets, the cross country team is proving that they aren’t to be pushed aside, with new personal records and a few wins to start the season off right.
At the first meet on September 4th, the girls team won against both Southwick and Pope Francis at their home course at Dufresne Park. Sweeping the win with Addison Hill, Grace Cooney, and Quinlin Cook getting first, second, and fifth, respectively. On the boys side, they won against Pope Francis and lost against Southwick. The boys had Nate Hutchinson, Trever Sullivan, and Nate Benson coming in first, third, and fifth respectively. This meet is the first of the season and is more difficult due to the Granby course having many obstacles, making it a slower race.
The second meet for the team was on September 10th. At this meet, the scores were very similar to the first meet. The girls team won against both Southwick and Monson, with runners Addison Hill, Grace Cooney, and Quinlin Cook coming in first, second, and third respectively, sweeping the meet for the Granby team. On the boys side, they won against Monson but sadly lost against Southwick. The boys had Nathan Hutchinson, Trevor Sullivan, and Colby Carleton come in first, fourth, and eighth places respectively. This was a great day for the team, continuing to prove that they are more than ready to tackle the rest of the season. The next meet for the team is on September 18th against Frontier, Saint Mary’s, and PVCICS at the Robert Crown Center.
